The District Court of Nacogdoches County, Texas granted partial summary judgment in favor of our clients, BHP Billiton Petroleum (Americas), Inc. and Petrohawk Properties, L.P., dismissing claims asserted by a plaintiff who claimed that he was the rightful owner of certain mineral rights in a producing oil & gas field. The plaintiff claimed that a prior conveyance of the property in our clients’ chain of title was invalid, based on an interpretation of certain language in the will of a previous owner of the property, and therefore the plaintiff, not our clients, was the rightful owner of the mineral interests. The case is being led by Jeremy Doyle.
