Nate Smith, Chris Hogan, and Harris Wells secured a significant summary judgment win for one of Reynolds Frizzell’s important oil and gas clients, Carrizo Oil & Gas.
Facing a lawsuit from a seismic data provider, Carrizo was sued for breach of contract and fraud based on wells they had drilled in the Eagle Ford Shale. Centered on the fraud claim, the plaintiff requested a seven-figure bonus payment plus punitive damages. Reynolds Frizzell filed an early summary judgment based on limitations and the economic loss rule. The court ruled in Carrizo’s favor and dismissed the entire case.
