Biography
Mason Malone lives by the philosophy that, for every action in a case, great lawyers ask, “Does this make it more likely that we resolve the client’s problem?” Assisting in litigation strategy and managing various matters in the energy, construction, and healthcare industries, Mason enjoys the challenge of anticipating problems before they arise while working on a diverse set of legal issues.
Having been on both sides of disputes, Mason recognizes clients worry about what to do when a deal goes south or government action threatens their business. He also understands clients worry less when their lawyer is calm under pressure, anticipates problems, and counsels them in favor of solutions that have the greatest likelihood of achieving their goals versus superficially satisfying solutions that do not increase the chances of prevailing.
Mason’s experience includes discovery, trial preparation, and motions practice in contract disputes, statutory issues, legal malpractice claims, and breach of fiduciary duty. He also has enjoyed pro bono work in immigration court and immigration-related proceedings in state family court.
Mason graduated from The Honors College at the University of Houston with a B.A. in both economics and liberal studies and earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center where he was Senior Articles Editor of the Houston Law Review and Communications Director of the UHLC chapter of the American Constitution Society.
When he’s not practicing law, Mason calls home the Houston Museum District where he unwinds by reading, playing a video game or two, and running and biking along the bayou.
